SUMMARY:The Bird-Insect Food Web
DESCRIPTION:Bluebird with a tasty snack! \nMonthly Meeting via Zoom\nSpeaker: Ashley Kennedy\, Ph.D.\, BCE. Entomologist\, Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control \nNumerous studies from around the world suggest that insect populations are currently in decline\, which in turn affects birds who rely on insects for food. To determine which insects are most important in bird diets we formed a community science project across North America which provided crowd-sourced pictures of birds with their arthropod prey. Based on more than 8\,000 photos of Delaware bluebirds\, and more than 7\,000 photos of other species\, we gained insight about the food web that connect plants\, insects\, and birds and what we can do in our own yards to make a difference. \nZoom in and join us online. The presentation is free and open to all. To receive the link to join\, you must sign up for our Osprey newsletter using the form at the bottom of this web page. We will email the link prior to the event.
