A Taste of History, Nature, Food, and Wine
On September 17, 2017, our society held its first Audubon Adventure Tour fundraiser. All 27 of us thoroughly enjoyed the day. The weather could not have been better. The event included a delightful and informative tour of historic Mount Airy mansion, followed by another tour of Chesapeake Natives plant nursery. If you have not been to either, I highly recommend you do so. While fundraising was our primary objective, spreading the importance of using native plants in our Southern Maryland landscapes is imperative to a healthy ecosystem. We capped off our day with a bird walk around the park, and then drove to Romano Winery and Vineyard for a Mediterranean cuisine lunch and wine tasting. Oh – the wine!! The food!! We will try and follow up this very successful event ,which added over $500 to our income next spring. Don’t miss it! Everyone said our first attempt was fabulous! Thanks to Friends of Mount Airy, Chesapeake Natives, Inc., Romano Winery and Vineyard, and to everyone who attended. You all helped to make this a day to remember.
